This painting is part of ‘The Magic Is You’ collection, a series of contemporary portraits celebrating womanhood through everyday moments. Using a technique developed by the late American artist, Helen Frabkenthaler, raw canvas is “soak-stained” to create a textural flat-wash background to which a detailed figure is juxtaposed on top of a gessoed silhouette.
This collection speaks to the idea that all of us posses unique gifts, talents and attributes. We too often look outside of ourselves for answers or validation about what those gifts are. The true discovery is the search within to realize we hold all the answers about our desires and how to make our gifts shine in this world - we are the magic, we were the magic all along.
The painting has been varnished to protect the work, and signed on the front by the artist.
